How to Draw Manga Mouths

So I’ve uploaded another tutorial and this is a pretty basic one on how to draw manga mouths! It shows different styles on how to draw open and closed mouths, lips, and teeth!

Extra tips:
-Try looking up your favorite manga artist and seeing how they draw mouths! Its really very stylized from artist to artist
-Whether the teeth show up or not (if you’re drawing them) depending on the angle, camera angles from below show the upper row while angles from above show the bottom row of teeth. ^^
-You can go and draw an outline for the whole lip if you want, this is largely up to your style! The way I drew them is only a suggestion so please be aware that there is no rule to them.

How to Draw Flowing Fabrics and Skirts

Well here’s a double upload this week for you guys! … because I was late. Technically I forgot to post this up on the website so I’m posting it up now >>;;;

Its was supposed o be conjunction with my other clothing folds tutorial but this is an extra for skirts and flowing fabric ^^ I didn’t go in detail too much, though also in part because there are beautifully done tutorial on exact methods online. Plus I’m a big advocate on self observation/study so I tend to give tips rather than step by step (if you keep up with me, you’ll notice this pattern)

How to Draw Clothing Folds and Wrinkles

Tips:

  • Loose clothing, though it does show less of the figure cannot make up for lack of knowledge of the human body
  • Loose clothing: long, straight wrinkles
  • Tight clothing: small, curvier wrinkles

How to Color Manga Hair with Copics

Colors Used:

In order: R21 – R43 – RV34 – BV31 – N3 (W3 reccommended)

Key Points:

  • Try to choose colors before hand
  • Slowly build colors from light to dark (dark to light is fine too if you have the confidence)
  • Growth point, ends, and inner hair are darkest
  • Hair is not perfect and flat
  • At least 3 colors are recommended
  • Use careful, but quick strokes originating from the darkest point

Tips:

  • Try to not use a lot of ink
  • If you’re using thin paper, you might want to give it some “drying time”
  • if you want a swatch book or printable copic color chart, Otakufuel has them

How to Draw Manga Hands

Tips and Techniques:

  • Draw a wrist (aka a clear definition between the hand and arm)
  • Remember to draw the palm, you’ll be surprised how often people tend to shrink it
  • The thumb isn’t actually that short, go and compare it to all the other fingers :)
  • I like to draw a line for the wrist sometimes, I don’t know why but it helps me visualize the hand better
  •  The hand is roughly the size of your face and the middle finger is roughly the size of the palm
  • For the valleys in between fingers try drawing it more “square” rather than a round loop
